Our Little Flower Child

We took Miss Maeve on a walk and let her stop to smell the roses. Literally. I think she wanted to eat them a bit more than smelling them but we wouldn't let her. You know, with the thorns and all. Enjoy the pics! The second one is so funny because of her facial expression and the last one is AMAZING!

I love my Daddy

Just some cute pictures of Maeve with her Daddy. In the first one, she is getting rocked to sleep and in the second one, she was SO excited when he came home from work. I usually take her into the garage and when Kenyon gets out of the car she starts squealing or gets a HUGE smile on her face! She loves her daddy.

We Had Fun at the "Fun Run"

Maeve and I went to Horrall School today to go to the Second Grade Fun Run. It is a fundraiser where the kids have to run around the track for an hour! Maeve and I just hung out though, it was far too windy to run. But the kids did an awesome job! Check out the pics.

Drumroll please........ The LONG awaited for Bestie picture. <3

SHOPPING!

Yea! Kenyon is taking his girls shopping today.

"Mommy, I think the store we want to go to is over there!" "Okay honey... did Daddy give you the credit card?" "Yep!"

Look what Maeve bought me with Daddy's credit card! Woo-hoo! A new Coach bag!

"Daddy, I am sorry, I didn't know how much it was and even if I did, I don't even know my numbers!"

As a thank you, we took Maeve to see her favorite little boy. Trevor!

Feet Up in the Air

Okay, so Maeve's new thing is that she loves to stick her feet way high in the air. She does it for everything! Last night we gave her a bath and she REFUSED to put her feet down into the water. The whole bath consisted of her sticking her feet way high up in the air. It was so funny! I was even able to get the camera and take some pictures as Kenyon bathed her. Even after the bath was over, she continued to stick her feet up as Kenyon tried to dry her. She is getting such a little personality. It cracks us up!

A Milestone?

Loving the Hotel

So this past weekend we spent our night in a hotel with Maeve. This was her first time in a hotel! It was so hot in CA that we could NOT spend another night in the house. Well, Maeve liked the high life apparently because she slept for seven and a half hours straight that night! I think she is like Pop Pop Richie... the girl loves her air conditioning!

A New Bestie is Born!

There's a new man in town! My best friend Genene gave birth to a GORGEOUS little boy named Liam Jacob. He was born on May 12 and he is just perfect. Maeve can't wait to go home and get her little hands on him! We are so proud of Payton too! She is being such a great big sister to Liam. Congratulations you guys!

Swim Time!

Burlingame set a record yesterday of 97 degrees. We don't have air conditioning so Maeve and I went to the mall for four, yes I said FOUR hours yesterday just to stay cool. When we got home, the house was a sauna. We put Maeve in the pool and she seemed to love it. Today is supposed to be 88 and tomorrow is supposed to be cooling off at 82 or something like that. The nights have been pretty rough- we had to sleep downstairs on the couch (and floor for Kenyon) just to stay cool. Thank God we have the pack and play set up downstairs! That is where Maeve slept!
Check out my new bathing suit! 3-6 months is kind of tight on me...YIKES!

I wonder what we are going to do?

Watcha lookin' at?

I am not sure what to do in this thing.

Oh look, a toy!

Now I am having fun!

Goodness Gracious

So, if you haven't seen on the weather, it has been in the 90's here everyday. Today is supposed to be 94. Not to bad if we had air conditioning but WE DON'T! Okay so Maeve and I have been going places that have air. We went to school yesterday and today we are hitting up Barnes and Noble. I even bought a little pool for her (that will so be on the blog later). So last night, Kenyon and I had to figure something out. We couldn't put the poor girl in a swaddle that would literally overheat her. So, we tried feeding her, laying her in the crib and putting on her soother to help her fall asleep. We left the room and she watched the soother for a while. Then, after about five minutes, she was done with it. She started to cry a bit. We were following the stupid book that tells us how to let a child cry it out. We went in there wiped her face off, touched her stomach and was out in under a minute- never picking her up. When we left- boy was she angry! She screamed her little head off...choking, sobbing, hiccuping, you name it! So after another five minutes we went back in to check on her and saw her throwing up all over herself. I said- screw all of the "books" and I scooped her up. She continued to throw up on herself. Yeah, we won't be doing that again.

So, we waited about an hour, calmed her down. Then she started to get tired. Kenyon walked her around the room for a bit and got her to sleep. He was able to (I have no idea how) put her in the crib UNSWADDLED. She slept for three and a half hours UNSWADDLED! When we got up to feed and change her it was 1:20 in the morning and we were too tired to deal with trying to get her down again so we swaddled her (and it cooled off). So, that is a good start, right Dad??

Moral of the story: If you truly know your child and know their personality, don't rely on books to try and give you answers to your problems. They will just throw up.

I Got It!

Breaking News

This just in.... Maeve Noelle Petura ROLLED OVER! I had her on her belly and she was watching Tigger and Pooh. She noticed the balloon behind her. She casually leaned back to look at it and then completely rolled to see it! I tried it again and of course she screamed! Whatever! Milestone reached!

Sitting Up

We have been practicing sitting up. Here are some pictures of her sitting in her crib. She stayed sitting there for like 20 minutes or so just looking around! We think she really enjoys her new view. Now if only we can get her to sleep without the swaddle, hahaha!

Happy Mother's Day

I understand now. I truly do. Before, I used to take this day for granted. I never knew how much work it took to be a mom. All of the effort, the pain, the frustration, the joy, the craziness....I could go on forever. I just wanted to say thank you to my mom. I realize how hard it must have been to have seven! Today was such a day of relaxation (this all because my husband made sure of it). I started the day off with nursing my baby and just watching her little eyelids flutter as she began to wake up. I thought to myself how truly blessed I was to be given this miracle in my life. The day went on as I got balloons and presents and a card from my sweet Maeve. Then Daddy took her out of the house to do some grocery shopping. I was left all alone in silence with my coffee watching The Truman Show on TV. It was so relaxing! As the day went on and they came home, we went to the Giants/Phillies game and met up with Renee and Tim. Maeve was an angel, sleeping through 5 innings. The day ended with dinner after Maeve went to bed (and us shortly behind her!). I wanted to thank all of my friends and family who called and wished me well on m very first Mother's Day. I wouldn't have enjoyed this day as much if I didn't have a wonderful daughter and husband.

Beautiful Flowers

I got the most beautiful flowers from GG Meems, Grammy and Bup for Mother's Day. I wanted to say thank you to them! Maeve especially loved them. Unfortunately, she was too quick and got one and it went straight to her mouth. The rest of them are okay though! Enjoy the pictures!

Maeve is 5 Months Old!

So yesterday Maeve turned 5 months olds. Some things she enjoys doing now are, watching Tigger and Pooh (the new adventures), playing in her jumperoo, laughing at the craziest things, oh and chewing on everything! Better get your hands and even arms out of the way because she will chomp down on them! We have moved away from using the bucket seat when we go for walks because Maeve prefers looking around at everything when we are walking. She LOVES being attached to one of us and look around outside! Since there is no doctor appointment at 5 months, I took her to the breastfeeding center to weigh her. The scales might be a little different but we will get the general idea of how big she is! Our baby now weighs: 16 pounds! Yea for growing babies! Here are some fun pictures of her. Enjoy!
