So, Maeve kept sucking on her mittens. We decided (with Aunt Kim's help) to try and see if she would suck on her fingers if we took her mittens off. Being that she won't take a pacifier, we decided to see if she would suck her thumb. We took off her mittens and cut her nails- another task in itself- and low and behold, she popped her thumb right in her mouth! Now of course there was some trial and error. Sometimes her thumb goes in her nose first but in the end, it does make it to her mouth. I caught a little picture of it when she was sleepy. I am guessing that she will need braces if she continues this! At least I won't have to wake up to put a pacifier in her mouth in the middle of the night.

We have a thumb sucker in training!

Aunt Denise (and Eli) came to visit!
Aunt Denise and Eli are here visiting me. She is so nice, I can see why mommy was her roommate in college for four years. Everytime she holds me I just seem to fall asleep in her arms. She came all the way from Minnesota. We hung out last night at the house and they had good conversation and good wine. I just stared at the lights. They were bright and shiny- oh! Back to our visitors... they went to the city today to do some sightseeing. Thank goodness because I projectile puked all over mommy. Then when Daddy came home, I projectile puked all over my changing table! I am sleepy now. Enjoy the pictures.

Feeling Better!
So, we went to the doctor yesterday. It's confirmed- Maeve has her first cold. We can't give her any medicine because she is so little. So we have been putting the humidifier in her room and sucking the boogies out with the bulb syringe. She is already feeling much better! We had lots of play time today and even some smiles. Here are some pictures of today's activities.

Mommy Hates This
Maeve has her first cold. She is so congested! I hate this bulb syringe that they tell me I have to stick in her nose to suck out the boogers. I think I might have gotten like one booger out with it. She screams and screams afterwards too. It did make her sneeze though which in turn made all of the gross boogies come out. She can't lay down because she can't breathe like that. So bedtime last night was awful. I got three hours of sleep and Kenyon only got two. Hopefully, we will keep sucking stuff out and she will feel better!
This is just a nice picture from when she felt good.

One Month Check-Up
Okay so we were headed to the doctor all happy...Maeve slept the whole car ride. Got in, took off her clothes and got weighed and measured. Here are her stats:
Weight: 10 lbs. (75th percentile) Length: 21.5 inches (75th percentile) Head size: 36 inches (25th percentile)
So we are going to have a big, tall little girl with a small head! There was some bad news however. Her cradle cap has spread to her head, neck, forehead, behind the ears and IN the ears (gross). She also has a yeast rash in her butt area. Poor baby. After hearing all of this and then talking to the doctor about what to do about it... she got stuck with a needle. :( The rest of the day is nothing to blog about because it was HORRIBLE. The girl cried all day. The only thing to stop her was my nipple or the outside (not together). So she is growing like a weed! Hopefully she will feel better tomorrow.

Out and About-FINALLY!
So Kenyon and I decided to get out for a walk. We went downtown, into shops (poor Kenyon) and just all around Burlingame. Maeve loves the outdoors! She fell right asleep which in the end became a big problem. She slept for five hours- that's right, five hours! So needless to say, the girl didn't sleep at all during the night. Kenyon was on baby duty and let me sleep (so sweet of him). So now it is 6:45 a.m. and both my loves are sleeping on the couch. :)

A VERY Special Gift...
So after a long day, there was a present waiting for me. It was from my loving brother Terence, my darling sister in-law Heather, and my two nieces Brigid and Maggie. It was a beautiful necklace with Maeve's name engraved on it. Just gorgeous! It is so greatly appreciated, words cannot even begin to say how much. Thank you, thank you!

Getting into a Routine
So, we have slowly been getting into a routine of sleeping at night. She will sleep for three hours and then get up for a feeding and then sleep for another three/three and a half hours until 6:30 a.m. After getting up then we feed her again and then she is out until about 9:30 or so. Not too bad! Now if I can only figure out when to shower..... Here are some pictures of her in her BabyGap outfit yesterday!

Update:Ouch!
Okay so I went to the doc and she took care of things. I won't go into details because my brother thinks I am being way to open on this page. Let's just say I got medication for it, it burned like hell and now I can't sit again. On the upside though, I now should heal in one week or so and the tear is looking pretty good! So all in all, it was a pretty bad appointment with an okay outcome. Thanks for all your good wishes!

Good Day for Baby...Bad one for me
So this post is going to be about me, selfishly. I have still been feeling quite uncomfortable. Kenyon, my friends, my mom, etc.... have all been hounding me to call the doctor. I am still bleeding from the tear (sorry, TMI) and I can hardly sit for long. So I called and they want to see me right away, that this is not normal after a month! So, after crying because they are going to touch me and hurt me and then crying because I have no one to watch my daughter because I live out here...and then crying because Kenyon has a meeting that day... and then crying because Maeve is crying.... I made the appointment for Friday (so much for right away). I am guessing blood clot over my stitches after talking to my mom about it. We will see...
One Month Old
Time has gone so fast! Our beautfiul baby was born one month ago. She is growing so fast (as you all can see). She loves to play with her mommy and daddy. She gazes into your eyes now and can follow something moving in front of her. She has been sleeping in her own crib the past two days! She makes funny noises now when she is excited about something too. In one month, she has been the source of all of our happiness. Happy One Month Birthday Little Maeve!
